INOCULATION
. s. f.
T. de Médec. Action de communiquer artificiellement une maladie contagieuse, en introduisant le virus dans le corps. L'inoculation de la petite vérole, de la peste, du claveau, etc. Une maladie contagieuse a ordinairement moins de danger lorsqu'elle est communiquée par inoculation. On dit aussi, L'inoculation d'un virus.   Il se dit, absolument, de L'inoculation de la petite vérole. La pratique de l'inoculation est fort ancienne dans les pays voisins de la mer Caspienne, aux Indes, à la Chine, et en Afrique. L'inoculation passa de Constantinople à Londres en 1721, et à Paris en 1755.
